Shelley Winters (1920–2006) aus St. Louis gewann zwei Oscars als Nebendarstellerin, für The Diary of Anne Frank (1959) und A Patch of Blue (1965). Unvergessen ist sie in A Place in the Sun (1951) und The Night of the Hunter (1955); in Lolita (1962) spielt sie Charlotte Haze, Lolitas Mutter.
