Sydney Pollack (1934–2008) aus Indiana war vor allem Regisseur, etwa von They Shoot Horses, Don’t They? (1969), Three Days of the Condor (1975), Tootsie (1982) und Out of Africa (1985), für den er zwei Oscars gewann. Als Schauspieler übernahm er Nebenrollen, so den wohlhabenden Victor Ziegler in Kubricks Eyes Wide Shut (1999).
