Louis Hayward (1909–1985), geboren in Johannesburg, kam über die Londoner Bühne nach Hollywood und wurde zum Helden von Mantel-und-Degen-Filmen. Er spielte die Doppelrolle in The Man in the Iron Mask (1939) und den Titelhelden in The Son of Monte Cristo (1940), war in René Clairs Agatha-Christie-Verfilmung And Then There Were None (1945) zu sehen und in Walk a Crooked Mile (1948) als Scotland-Yard-Mann.
